A man who allegedly stabbed seven people and injured 7,200 at a Kerala medical college has been arrested.
The Times of Kerala reports that the suspect, who lives in the town of Pudukkottu, has been charged under sections 295A, 498A and 504A of the Indian Penal Code.
According to police, the suspect was found in the vicinity of the Medical College of Kerala (MCK) on Friday.
Police arrested the suspect from the village of Thiruvananthapuram around 5:00am on Saturday morning.
Sources in the local police station said that the man, identified as Ajay Kumar, was in the area with a group of friends.
“He is said to have stabbed seven persons, injured 720 persons and fled in a jeep,” a police official told the paper.
“He was later caught by the police near the city of Chambal.”
Ajay Kumar is currently in custody.
Police said that they have arrested a total of six persons, including the suspect.
Kerala’s chief medical officer has said that while the hospital has not yet been cleared of all the injured, the victims had been moved to other hospitals and the victims have been shifted to various hospital wards.
